I have had many poems published, some of which are on the South Bank website.I have also won several poetry competitions and I am a member of the National Association of Writers in Education; I also enjoy many other art forms: I have been knitting, crocheting, lampshade-making and rug-making since I was a child. I design and make crocheted and knitted accessories as well as garments; jewelry (including button jewelry); lampshades; egg cosies; rug pictures, mainly using natural fibers. I also design cards and posters, mirrors and enjoy photography. I exhibited my work at 2012 Art & Design and Craft Fairs in Buxton and during the Buxton Art Trail. I studied catering at High Peak College in 1996 and I regularly bake cakes etc for Buxton Musical Society. I have a diagnosis of schizophrenia and formed a mental health self help group, High Peak Writers, in 2001. I produced The Last Laugh, a play on a mental health theme, which was co-authored by the Group, for the 2010 Buxton Fringe Festival to great acclaim. I have also been a singer with Buxton Musical Society for 8 years and have sung in many concerts at St Johns Church and Buxton Opera House.I studied sound engineering in 1999 at Manchester School of Sound Recording. I was Book Exhibition Officer in Book Trade Unit and Information Assistant in Visual Arts Dept of the British Council. I am a qualified Library and Information Scientist and Translator.I have qualifications in 5 languages. I am currently Public Governor for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, representing the High Peak.
