Kate Dawes creates botanical art, be it pen and watercolour or a hybrid of art and photography, combining artistic skills and photo imagery.
Through her hybrid art Kate emphasises the natural beauty of botanicals to create bold art pieces that capture the strong lines, structures and colour palettes of a variety of flowers and foliage. Each piece starts life on watercolour paper and is delicately built up using a wide range of mediums from watercolours, acrylics, Caran D’Ache pencil crayons & black pen.
All Kate’s work is about ‘bringing the outside in’ and draws inspiration from rambling English country gardens.
Her fine art giclee prints are available in a variety of sizes and as greeting cards.
Kate Dawes also runs Pen and Watercolour workshops, suitable for all abilities. Kate shows participants different techniques of pen drawing along with how to overlay with ‘dry’ watercolour to create beautiful art.
