Artist profile
Julie is a mixed media artist working in a range of mediums including paint, collage, stitch and textile. She likes to sketch, partliculary with concertina sketchbooks, which gives her freedom and inspiration for art pieces and compositions. Working in varied mixed media is a challenge. She has exhibited at the Harley Gallery in Nottingham with her artwork ‘Wave’ . Julie is a member of the Matlock Artists Society and has exhibited with them over five years. Julie exhibits at various art trails, Belper, Melbourne, Bonsall and Derbyshire Open Arts. She has achieved ‘Best Mixed Media’ and watercolour prizes in local exhibitions. Julie has exhibitied In Harrogate at the Knitting and Stitching show as part of a stitch collective based in Scarborough and continues to be a member of the group. More recently Julie is offering workshops in stitching techniques and textiles and will be extending this to other mixed media techniques for 2024.
Julies background is in healthcare and she worked for 37 years in the NHS. Her training and qualifications which include teaching within nursing are BSC Advanced Professional Studies, SRN, OND (Ophthalmic Nursing Diploma) Diploma in Nursing Care, Rheumatology at Msc. Holistic therapies has also been one of Julies area’s of expertise and she has various holistic qualifications including Crystal and gem therapies, Reiki, reflexology and aromotherapy. Most recently Julie completed her A level in Fine Art to complement her life long love of art, and has focused on this and continues to grow and learn in the arts.
