Artist profile
I am a multi-media artist, living in Apperknowle NE Derbyshire. I work in oils , linocut and Digital Media (illustration and animated digital light shows)
I’m interested in bringing physical materials and imagination together to build kind of poetic connections between the tangible world and the transcendent. To do this I create textured and glossy surfaces (often making my own paint) with colourful pigments, oils, turpentine, waxes, wood ash, marble dust and gold leaf. I also enjoy figurative portrait painting, often including gold leaf in the works.
In an earlier life I taught art in Chesterfield and gained a Masters in Fine Art Practice and Education in 2014.
