Artist profile

First Art

Put simply, First Art is about making good things happen. First Art is an arts charity working with communities where there is low engagement with the arts, helping people to experience and shape great arts and culture where they live.

First Art is one of a network of projects around England that form the Creative People and Places programme, funded by Arts Council England, covering the districts of Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield and North East Derbyshire.

First Art is a registered charity (no. 1193429) and leads the First Art programme in partnership with Creswell Crags, Junction Arts, Active Partners Trust and BCVS (Bolsover Together).

Since it began in 2014, First Art has made over 1,000,000 engagements with people and delivered over 300 events, from small workshops and mentoring sessions to outdoor festivals and international broadcasts, including Portrait in Mansfield, The Full Shebang Festival, Light Night Ashfield, The Secret Picnic, Back to Normal, the Everybody’s Home Kit, and First Art Club to name but a few.
