Liz Wellby – artist, teacher & maker

Liz Wellby is a versatile and experienced fine artist and an award winning tutor. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post graduate studies, she returned to the Derbyshire Dales where for over 30 years she has worked as an artist in residence, teacher and maker.

Living and working in Derbyshire is important to Liz, providing a significant visual response for her work. The themes of home, countryside and the domestic environment, can be seen in her drawings, print work and wire sculpture.

Liz is an experienced teacher and tutor, running a wide range of creative workshops for charities, galleries, museums and arts groups across the East Midlands. You may join her for individual tuition and small group workshops at her home studio, The Slipper Studio. Situated between Matlock and Ashbourne, in the village of Carsington, the studio is beautifully presented and the perfect place to relax, learn and create. Full details for her workshops can be found on the Events & Workshops section of her website. In the Spring and Autumn, Liz travels to a friends farm in Hampshire to run creative arts weeks in a beautiful thatched barn: www.bloomingdesigns.com.
