Derby Museums is delighted to be bringing Cabaret Mechanical Theatre to the Museum of Making for a new interactive exhibition! Marvel at the ingenious mechanisms and learn more about this wonderful art form. Perfect for all ages.
Since 1979 Cabaret Mechanical Theatre (CMT) have played an integral role in the revival of automata and have supported a growing number of automata makers. Their visually stunning art, science and engineering exhibitions have been seen by millions of people worldwide.
CMT are delighted to bring 30 automata from their collection to the Museum of Making this winter. This interactive educational experience is perfect for children, families, school groups and adults.
The automata are made by 12 contemporary artists, including Paul Spooner, Carlos Zapata, Wanda Sowry and Fi Henshall. Marvel at the ingenious mechanisms, get inspired to make your own automata, and learn more about this wonderful art form.
Booking is recommended, walk-ins will be permitted if there is space.
Bookings are now open. Tickets are currently available to book for dates up until 2nd January.
Tickets will go on sale every Tuesday for the following week, so tickets for the 4th-9th January will go on sale on 28th December.
Entry to Cabaret Mechanical Theatre is FREE on the first Sunday of the month, on a first come first served basis – for any other days, please book as above.
