Derbyshire Festivals 2026

Derbyshire is the county of festivals and as you read on below, you will be able to see that there is always plenty to do around each corner of the county throughout the year.

Many of the festivals featured here are members of Festivity, a forum for joint working between all the festivals in Derbyshire who work together to bring a vibrant and varied menu of artistic events to the festivals season each year. The programme includes the creative arts, performance, music of every genre, dance, drama, literature and much more…

All year round
Belper Fringe 2026
Belper Fringe brings an exciting programme of events to Belper. Embracing all forms of artistic expression, this festival hopes to bring together visual, musical and theatrical arts for an exciting extravaganza.

 

26 January – 1 March 
Peak District Artisans, Chatsworth Showcase in the Shop
The Chatsworth Showcase in the Shop will take place from 26 January to 1 March 2026, bringing together the work of 22 members of Peak District Artisans. Held in the Stables Shop in the Chatsworth Courtyard, the exhibition offers a curated display of fine art, contemporary craft, ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery and photography created by established artists from across the Peak District. Visitors can browse and buy original handmade work throughout the five-week showcase, which is free to enter and open during Chatsworth retail hours (usual parking charges may apply). The Chatsworth Showcase is one of Peak District Artisans’ flagship annual events, celebrating the creativity and artistic heritage of the region.

27 February – 1 March
UK Ghost Story Festival
Returning for 2026, the UK Ghost Story Festival invites writers and readers of the supernatural to a chilling weekend in Derby (27 Feb–1 Mar) at QUAD, alongside a pre-festival online event (6–8 Feb) via Google Meet.

 

20–22 February
Dark Peak Photography Festival

A three-day celebration of contemporary photography, bringing exhibitions, events and conversations to new audiences. Taking place 20–22 February 2026 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), the festival is not-for-profit, community-focused and committed to inclusive, locally rooted programming with an international outlook.

 

5 March
World Book Day
World Book Day will be celebrated on 5 March 2026, when every child in the UK and Ireland receives a £1 / €1.50 token to choose one of 16 specially selected books — helping spark a love of reading through fun, affordable access to new stories.

 

11 April – 16 May
Derbyshire Makes at Cromford
Derbyshire Makes Festival returns from 11 April to 16 May 2026, offering a free, county‑wide celebration of creativity across six hub towns. The festival kicks off in Cromford on 11 April. Expect hands-on making, artist talks, exhibitions, performances, walks, music, food and so much more — all inspired by Derbyshire’s rich heritage of crafting and innovation.

 

17 – 19 April
Klez North
KlezNorth is an annual festival of Klezmer music, dance and song welcoming both Jewish and non-Jewish people to the wonderful world of Klezmer. Whether you are a seasoned musician or a curious newcomer, expect workshops, concerts, jam sessions, and a warm, communal spirit rooted in heritage and creativity. In 2026, the festival is set to take place at Youlgrave, Derbyshire from 17 to 19 April.

 

11 April – 16 May
Derbyshire Makes at Chesterfield

Derbyshire Makes Festival returns from 11 April to 16 May 2026, offering a free, county‑wide celebration of creativity across six hub towns. The festival continues in Chesterfield on 18 April. Expect hands-on making, artist talks, exhibitions, performances, walks, music, food and so much more — all inspired by Derbyshire’s rich heritage of crafting and innovation.

 

11 April – 16 May
Derbyshire Makes at Swadlincote
Derbyshire Makes Festival returns from 11 April to 16 May 2026, offering a free, county‑wide celebration of creativity across six hub towns. The festival continues in Swadlincote on 25 April. Expect hands-on making, artist talks, exhibitions, performances, walks, music, food and so much more — all inspired by Derbyshire’s rich heritage of crafting and innovation.

 

17-18 April
Hairy Dog Derby
This two-night rock event takes place at The Hairy Dog, Becket Street, Derby (DE1 1HT), on 17–18 April 2026. Enjoy three live bands each night.

 

11 April – 16 May
Derbyshire Makes at Heanor

Derbyshire Makes Festival returns from 11 April to 16 May 2026, offering a free, county‑wide celebration of creativity across six hub towns. The festival continues in Heanor on 2 May. Expect hands-on making, artist talks, exhibitions, performances, walks, music, food and so much more — all inspired by Derbyshire’s rich heritage of crafting and innovation.

 

2 May
Tideswell Food Festival
Held annually in the charming village of Tideswell, this event brings together an eclectic mix of artisan food stalls, handmade goods, and live entertainment. Stroll through the market and discover locally-sourced produce, from fresh seasonal ingredients to indulgent treats, alongside unique crafts from talented makers. Whether you are a food lover, craft enthusiast, or just looking for a fun day out in the beautiful countryside, Tideswell’s Food Festival & Makers Market offers something for everyone. The Tideswell Food Festival returns on 2 May 2026.

 

11 April – 16 May
Derbyshire Makes at Glossop
Derbyshire Makes Festival returns from 11 April to 16 May 2026, offering a free, county‑wide celebration of creativity across six hub towns. The festival continues in Glossop on 9 May. Expect hands-on making, artist talks, exhibitions, performances, walks, music, food and so much more — all inspired by Derbyshire’s rich heritage of crafting and innovation.

Derbyshire Makes at Bolsover
Derbyshire Makes Festival returns from 11 April to 16 May 2026, offering a free, county‑wide celebration of creativity across six hub towns. The festival continues in Bolsover on 16 May. Expect hands-on making, artist talks, exhibitions, performances, walks, music, food and so much more — all inspired by Derbyshire’s rich heritage of crafting and innovation.

 

20–24 May
Bearded Theory Festival

Bearded Theory returns from 20–24 May 2026 at the beautiful Catton Park, Derbyshire, celebrating community, wonder, and music across eight stages. Expect headline bands, woodland hideaways, family-friendly camps, crafts, wellness “Earth” zones, and unforgettable moments in the heart of the National Forest.

 

22 – 31 May
Derby Book Festival (Summer 2026)

The Derby Book Festival celebrates literature, creativity, and community in Derbyshire — bringing together authors, spoken-word performers, readers, and book lovers. Expect a curated programme of readings, workshops, panel talks, and events for the Summer Festival that support emerging writers and champion the joy of storytelling from 22 – 31 May.

 

22 – 25 May
WinsterFest
Live music, real ale, good food, camping, flushing toilets on site – what more can you ask for? Small and friendly WinsterFest from 22 – 25 May 2026, in the small village of Winster, near Matlock.

 

22–27 May
Cliff Festival
Happening 22–27 May 2026, this weekend-long celebration brings all ages together for worship, Bible teaching, activities, food and community on the beautiful Cliff College grounds.

 

1–14 June
Peak District Artisans, Gatehouse Gallery Exhibition
The Haddon Hall Gatehouse Gallery Exhibition returns from 1–14 June 2026, showcasing the work of talented Peak District artists and makers. Set in the historic Gatehouse at Haddon Hall, the exhibition offers visitors the chance to explore a curated selection of contemporary art, craft, ceramics, textiles, photography, and jewellery — all created by regional artisans. This popular event provides a relaxed and inspiring setting to enjoy, admire, and purchase original handmade works while experiencing the charm and history of Haddon Hall. Entry to the gallery is included with standard Haddon Hall admission.

 

19 June – 12 July
Ashbourne Festival
Running 19 June – 12 July 2026, Ashbourne Festival brings outstanding music, comedy, theatre and visual arts to the historic market town at the gateway to the Peak District. With more than 25 years’ experience of showcasing exceptional regional, national and international talent, the festival remains a standout cultural event in the Derbyshire calendar.

 

17 June
Long Eaton Carnival
Taking place on 17 June 2026, this free community celebration brings Long Eaton together with a colourful town parade, vibrant displays and family-friendly activities. Organised entirely by dedicated local volunteers, the Carnival is a showcase of community spirit and a fun day out for all.

 

22 August
Derby Fake Fest
Happening on 22 August 2026 at Markeaton Park, Derby, this annual celebration brings together six ‘fake’ tribute bands performing hits from Queen, Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Muse, Pulp and Pink. Expect an evening of high-energy music, sing-alongs, and summer festival vibes for all music fans.

 

27 June
Duffield Carnival Day
The Carnival Day on 27 June 2026 is part of Carnival Week (21–28 June 2026), a full week of community events, activities and fun in Duffield. This year’s theme is World Cup Nations, with colourful floats, family-friendly entertainment, and a vibrant procession through the village. 26–28 June
Exile Music Festival
Happening 26–28 June 2026, Exile brings three unforgettable days of heartwarming performances, great food, local live music and sun-soaked family fun. Bring the kids, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a relaxed, friendly festival experience.

 

3–5 July
Repton Festival
Running 3–5 July 2026, this three-day festival brings a curated mix of music, art, literature, theatre, comedy and family activities to the historic grounds of Repton. With an eclectic programme and plenty to explore, it is a small but mighty weekend celebrating creativity, culture and community.

 

8–26 July
Buxton Festival Fringe
Running 8–26 July 2026, this vibrant open-access arts festival fills Buxton with theatre, comedy, music, dance, exhibitions, film, poetry and more across numerous venues. One of the UK’s largest fringes, it celebrates creativity without selection or censorship and offers a platform for artists of all kinds.

 

9–26 July
Buxton International Festival

Taking place 9–26 July 2026, this renowned summer festival brings world-class opera, music, literature and jazz to the heart of the Peak District. Celebrated nationally and internationally since 1979, it offers an exceptional cultural experience in one of the UK’s most beautiful settings. 17–19 July
Stainsby Festival
Happening 17–19 July 2026, this intimate, family-friendly festival brings live music, performance and creativity to a beautiful greenfield site in the hamlet of Stainsby, Derbyshire. Run entirely by volunteers and rooted in community spirit, it offers a warm, welcoming weekend of listening, playing, learning and enjoying the arts.

 

23–25 July
Rock & Blues Festival

Returning 23–25 July 2026 to the Coney Grey Showground in Pentrich, this legendary three-day weekender delivers live music across three stages plus a two-day indoor Custom Show. A full-throttle mix of rock, blues, bikes and festival energy, it’s one serious weekend party. Check the event website for more details.

 

25–26 July
Chesterfield Children’s Festival

A free weekend of family fun returns to Queen’s Park on 25–26 July 2026, bringing live music, theatre, storytelling, dance, games and hands-on creative workshops for children aged 0–16. With BSL interpreters, accessible facilities and a full programme designed to celebrate imagination and play, the Chesterfield Children’s Festival is a joyful summer event for all ages. 30 July – 2 August 2026
Y Not Festival

Taking place 30 July – 2 August 2026 in Pikehall, Derbyshire, this small, fresh and loud festival delivers stunning countryside views, great food, local ales and ciders, and a packed lineup of live music. With a laid-back, good-time atmosphere (and iconic fancy dress), it’s all about making summer memories. Check the Y Not website for more details.

 

7–10 August
Buxton Blues Festival 2026

A small, friendly festival in the Derbyshire Peak District, now celebrating its eighth edition. Expect three nights of live blues music, real ale, great food, camping, and a laid-back rural atmosphere at Greenlow Farm, Aldwark (DE4 4HX).
The 2026 festival will take place from 7–10 August.

 

6–9 August
Bloodstock Open Air
Taking place 6–9 August 2026 at Catton Park, Derbyshire, Bloodstock returns for its 25th anniversary with four days of world-class metal, massive headline acts, revamped stages and a full festival experience. With camping options, a huge lineup and major site upgrades for 2026, it’s set to be an unmissable year.

 

10–15 August
Ilkeston Community Theatre and Festival

Celebrate creativity, community and local talent at the Ilkeston Festival, taking place 10–15 August 2026. Organised by the Ilkeston Community Theatre and Festival Group, the week-long programme brings together performances, workshops, family-friendly activities and vibrant events designed to entertain and inspire.

 

12–16 August
Barlow Carnival

Running 12–16 August 2026, Barlow Carnival brings a full week of colour, tradition and community spirit to the village, with Carnival Day taking place on Saturday 15 August 2026. From well dressings and the flower festival to parades, family fun, live music and village-wide activities, it’s a vibrant celebration for all ages.

 

30 August
Peak District Highland Games
Taking place at Matlock Farm Park on 30 August 2026, this much-loved annual event brings together some of the UK’s strongest men and women for a full day of thrilling competition. From the Eight-Tonne Tractor Pull to the Caber Toss, Log Press and Stone of Destiny Carry, it’s an unforgettable spectacle for all ages. With market stalls, food vendors, animal activities, children’s play areas and more, it’s a brilliant family day out.

 

28–31 August
Rock the Peaks
A small, friendly rock weekend with 14 bands over three days, running 28–31 August 2026, with free camping included and held on the Winsterfest site near DE4 2PH.

 

4–6 September
Off The Tracks Festival
Taking place 4–6 September 2026 at Castle Donington, Off The Tracks is an independent, family-friendly festival celebrating music, community and countryside escapes. Friendly, relaxing and full of memorable moments, it’s a small-scale festival with big experiences, run with passion by Andy, Boz and their dedicated team.

 

4–6 September
Chatsworth Country Fair
Running 4–6 September 2026 in the stunning parkland of Chatsworth House, this annual event offers three days of thrilling Grand Ring displays, celebrity chef demos, family entertainment, and hands-on activities. Enjoy a vintage fun fair, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, food, shopping, and more for an unforgettable countryside experience.

 

11–20 September
Wirksworth Festival

Running 11–20 September 2026, Wirksworth Festival turns the town into a vibrant celebration of arts, music, theatre and community. Explore several venues showcasing local and visiting artists, enjoy live performances, family-friendly activities, and street entertainment — a festival experience not to be missed!

 

12 September
Derby Pride

Taking place on 12 September 2026, Derby Pride celebrates LGBT+ culture and brings together diverse communities across Derbyshire. Family-friendly and open to everyone, it’s a day of music, entertainment, and inclusivity. Check the Derby Pride website for updates and event details.

 

13 – 15 November
Derby Book Festival (Autumn 2026)

The Derby Book Festival celebrates literature, creativity, and community in Derbyshire — bringing together authors, spoken-word performers, readers, and book lovers. Expect a curated programme of readings, workshops, panel talks, and events for the Autumn Festival that support emerging writers and champion the joy of storytelling from 13 – 15 November.

 

27–29 November
Banks Mill Open Studios
Discover the creative heart of Derby at Banks Mill Open Studios, returning 27–29 November 2026. Explore the studios of artists, designers, makers and creative businesses as they open their doors for a special winter weekend. See first-hand how unique artworks and handmade products come to life, and purchase original pieces directly from the people who create them — a rare experience you won’t find on the high street.
