Artist profile
2026 is a year for celebrating both sides of Arts Melbourne with Melbourne Festival Coming of Age and Creative Melbourne turning 5!
For the past 21 years Arts Melbourne have organised the popular Melbourne Festival Art and Architecture Trail in Melbourne, South Derbyshire featuring approximately 150 artists in private houses, gardens, halls and public buildings in the historic heart of the village. The 2026 Melbourne Festival Art & Architecture Trail will take place on 19 & 20 September.
After years looking for a home for our organisation and projects we opened Creative Melbourne a Gallery with studios at Wellington House, Church Street, DE73 8EJ right in the heart of Melbourne in 2021. The initial aim was to create an exhibition space for Creative Artists to exhibit, and sell, their work during the pandemic.
Five years later we have a successful gallery with regularly changing themed exhibitions showcasing work by regional artists. We have three artists studios and Spaces to Create, an area for emerging artists to work, an extensive programme of artist-led community workshops and a mentored artists development programme for emerging artists taking part in Spaces to Create.
During 2026 thanks to support from an Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant and from South Derbyshire District Council we will be delivering a number of activities inspired by Melbourne Artist Ronald Pope “Humanity, Nature and Creativity”.
