We Are Here!

Celebrating place, creative collaboration and dance!

Monday 30th Nov 2026 4.30pm – 6pm at Chapel Street Arts Centre, DE1 3GU

Hubbub Theatre Company will share and reflect on the Dance Development that has taken place with Hubbub Theatre Company and Dance Collective at Chapel Street Arts Centre, thanks to ACE project grant funding and Derby City Council.

The project has included:

• 3 bursary placements for under-represented dance artists to develop their skills and practice in accessible Dance and Movement.

• 2 residencies with Dance companies to work with the Hubbub Company and Dance Collective.

• A programme of professional development workshops with a focus on dance / movement practice with access, equity and wellbeing at the heart.

The evening’s event will include:

• 2 performances from our residency companies – ClownDanceSeagrass Project and MSDC Dance – who have been working with The Company and The Dance Collective. MSDC Dance  ClownDanceSeagrass Project

This is work in progress and demonstrates how the companies have been embedded in the Hubbub Way practice, developing accessible approaches to their work and sharing their own creative practice with Hubbub dancers and physical theatre ensemble.

• A second opportunity to see Bethany Smith’s dance film ‘Journeys’ which was developed with support from East Midland’s Dance Network’s mentoring programme and made into a film as part of a residency at LEVEL Centre with support from Sophie Thorpe (choreography) and Adam Roberston (film).

• Reflections on the impact of this Dance Development funding on people and place. What next for Hubbub Dance Collective and what next for Dance at Chapel Street Arts Centre?

• Networking and a general Feel Good Monday start to the week in the café

Tickets for this event are £10 with some complimentary tickets available for people who may struggle with this cost.
