Theatre in Tideswell is habit forming!

We’re really looking forward to the coming season of theatre in the village, following Tideswell Community Players’ fake-nun comedy in June. We’ve more from TCP this autumn and lots of exciting visiting shows, taking you right through to spring next year.

So have your diaries handy, note down these dates and get into the habit of coming to these great live shows right on your doorstep! Look out for the amazing and eye-catching posters too – see below!

8:00pm Saturday 31st October – Tideswell Community Players – 
The Tideswell Tales
Tideswell Players’ None the Wiser, the irreverent and hilarious comedy about shoplifters posing as fake nuns living in a disused convent, was a great success, selling out on each of its three nights, sending the audience away at the end still laughing and very happy. Ample evidence that the local theatre group, first performing in 1930, is still going strong!

On Saturday 31st October TCP are planning a special event
to mark Halloween. The Tideswell Tales is a series of original spooky stories inspired by local legends and the landscape in and around the village. Join us at The Institute…if you dare!

Visiting Shows
7:30pm Saturday 24th October – Pentabus Theatre Company presents Birdcatcher. You may remember that Pentabus (with New Perspectives) brought Make Good here a couple of years ago, about the Post Office scandal. The play brought in an audience that completely filled the venue. Birdcatcher, their new show, will be performed at Tideswell Community Hall. It is a darkly comic drama by award-winning playwright Laura Waldren. A teenage girl navigates life inside a highly controlling religious cult. As equally thought provoking as Make Good, so don’t miss it!

7:30pm Thursday 12th November – Marcella’s Minute to Midnight is a one-woman play about a decluttering of a lifetime which leads to a host of vivid memories. Will the previously discarded objects lead Marcella to realisation of some forgotten dreams and new ambitions? At Tideswell Community Hall.

And looking further ahead to early 2027… Music, Dance, Comedy and Drama
Folk Fusion bring a lively mix of folk, blues and country, storytelling and even singalongs (13th February).

Dance returns with Spiltmilk’s Playlist, a high‑energy celebration of bestselling songs, misheard lyrics, dodgy cover versions and absurd dance routines (16th April).

The Home sees life through the eyes of Uma, in a 1950s rural convalescent home, isolated and bullied. Comedy and drama in this compelling performance by Open Sky Productions (4th May).

And, of course, Tideswell Community Players’ spring production, details yet to be announced!

Tideswell Theatre
We’ve been bringing great shows to the village since 2002 as Tideswell Theatre. Birdcatcher and The Home are brought to the village directly by Tideswell Theatre. Marcella…, Folk Fusion and Playlist are brought to the village by Tideswell Theatre via Live and Local, the Arts Council and local authority supported rural touring scheme.
