In celebration of Black History Month, Culture Health & Wellbeing Alliance is partnering with London Arts and Health to commission five artists to write a blog exploring their creative practice, showcasing an existing body of work that engages with this year’s theme of ‘Honouring our Communities’.
‘Honouring our Communities’ invites us to look more closely at something often taken for granted — the people holding Black communities together, in relationships, in support systems, and in the spaces where people find belonging. It asks us to consider whose work we value, whose stories we tell, and whose contributions we may have overlooked.
We are focusing on artists within Black communities across the UK who are being recognised as changemakers within the realm of creative health and social justice, whose contributions are central to the continued resilience, progress and identity of Black communities.
