Upcycling With A Spooky Twist

We Want Your 2nd Hand Halloween Costumes

On Friday 23 October Transition Buxton volunteers are returning to the Crescent Assembly Rooms by popular demand with their ‘Upcycling With A Spooky Twist’ activity as part of a Free Family Fun Day.

Using donated second hand costumes and materials the creative team of stitchers will make bespoke costumes with and for children.  Last year roughly 40 children went home with unique costumes made specially for them and this year they expect even more.

Alongside the costume making the wonderful Creeping Toad will be helping youngsters make masks.

Donation boxes for used costumes and Halloween accessories are located in the Library on Kents Bank Road, the train Station waiting room, and the Pump Room.  Please drop in your donations between now and 20 October, then come along to the Assembly Rooms on 23rd for Free Family Fun!

The event runs 10am – 3pm and there is no charge for the activities, just donate what you can afford and feel is fair.

Jean Ball from Transition Buxton said: “Instead of buying a factory made costume, then only wearing it once, let’s have fun with used costumes and donated materials to create wonderful new outfits that the children will really enjoy showing off. We will be altering and embellishing donated costumes, and making others from scratch.  The first question we will ask each child when they arrive is ‘What do you want to be for Halloween?’ Then we will see how together we can create their ideal bespoke costume.  Being creative is so much more fun than buying something pre-made.”
