Artist profile
Edison Herbert is a Derbyshire-based British jazz guitarist, composer, producer and bandleader whose music brings together jazz, soul, Caribbean influences and contemporary production.
Originally from Leeds, Edison studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama before establishing his career in London. He has toured worldwide, performed in West End productions and appeared on BBC television and radio. He was also featured on Sky Arts’ Guitar Star, where he performed for George Benson, who subsequently became his mentor.
Edison has released four albums as a bandleader and performs with his quartet at jazz clubs, theatres and festivals throughout the UK. His work combines original compositions with distinctive interpretations of familiar music, creating performances that are accessible, uplifting and rooted in the improvisational spirit of jazz.
Now based in Derbyshire, Edison is developing new live performances, workshops and immersive audio projects. He is particularly interested in collaborating with arts organisations, venues, musicians and community partners to create ambitious cultural experiences and bring high-quality contemporary jazz to audiences across Derbyshire and beyond.
