Young Emerging Artist Exhibition at Hopton Hall Gallery

Peak District Artisans’ Young Emerging Artist (YEA) Award culminates in a solo exhibition by this year’s winner, Amadora, at Hopton Hall Gallery from 5–26 August. The exhibition celebrates the award’s commitment to supporting talented artists at the start of their careers by providing opportunities to exhibit, gain professional experience and connect with the wider artistic community. Members and visitors are warmly encouraged to visit the exhibition and support this exciting young artist.

PDA YEA Coordinator, Katherine Stephenson said: “One of the great strengths of the Young Emerging Artist Award is the opportunity it gives emerging artists to exhibit their work, connect with experienced artists and become part of a supportive creative community. We are delighted to support Amadora at this exciting stage of her career.”

In addition, PDA awarded runners-up prizes of one year’s free membership to Maya Howes, a costumier who creates historic clothing for re-enactors and museums and Ayodeji Kingsley, a metal sculptor with a passion for transforming discarded materials into works of art. Ayodeji will also be exhibiting one of his sculptures during the exhibition.

The exhibition will run at Hopton Hall Gallery from 5–26 August, with the presentation evening and gallery launch taking place on 7 August at 7.00 pm. Visitors are warmly invited to celebrate the Peak District’s rich creative talent and experience Amadora’s vibrant, dynamic work in person

Another win at Hopton Hall!
The Hopton Hall Month of Art winner was decided by public vote, with Roger Allen, member of Peak District Artisans, awarded the first place prize of £1,000 for his oil painting ‘The Picnic Party, Hopton Hall’. Roger spent six days, spread over three weeks, working in the grounds in high temperatures. By the final weekend his constant presence had worn a dry indentation in the ground where he had positioned his easel!
Roger is the third PDA member to win first prize in this competition, which has been running since 2023.
