What's on
Tapton Lock Festival is a much-loved annual event, enjoyed by families of all ages every year.
Launched by Junction Arts in 2013, the Tapton Lock Festival is a free, inclusive celebration created to promote health, wellbeing and creativity within the local community. For over a decade, it has offered opportunities to try new skills, connect with nature and enjoy a rich programme of cultural experiences.
Set along the beautiful Chesterfield Canal, this vibrant festival brings together community and culture with a packed programme of hands-on activities, live performances and outdoor fun for all ages.
This year’s festival takes place over one action-packed day—filled with all your favourite activities including canal boat rides, have-a-go canoeing, a climbing wall, circus skills and, of course, plenty of bubbles.
Get creative with pottery and eco craft workshops, or join a mindful photography walk. Enjoy a diverse line-up of live performances, including Polish singing, poetry, dance, folk music and a lively brass band.
Take part in the 50 Stories Trail, celebrating 50 years of Junction Arts, try your hand at seed potting, or relax and watch one of our newly commissioned films.
You’ll also find a wide range of community and charity stalls — plus a delicious selection of food and drink, from ice cream and wood-fired pizza to freshly baked goods and great coffee.
