Calow Gala 2026: A Celebration of Community, Creativity and Summer Fun

Calow Gala is now entering its fourth year since being reintroduced, and it has quickly become one of the most cherished community events in the Chesterfield area.

Many long‑time residents fondly remember a similar event that ran in the 1970s and early 1980s, and after hearing so many locals reminisce about how much it meant to the village, Sam and Penny brought it back to give Calow a shared celebration once again. The Gala has grown every year since, becoming a day that truly reflects the spirit and pride of our community.

At its heart, the Gala exists to encourage community cohesion—a place where neighbours reconnect, families spend time together, and local groups meet new supporters. They’re passionate about creating an event that brings people together in a meaningful way, strengthening the bonds that make Calow such a welcoming place to live.

A key part of their mission is to showcase local talent across the arts, music and sport. From musicians and performers to community groups and sporting displays, the Gala provides a platform for people of all ages to shine. They also work closely with local organisations and charities to signpost support available in the area, helping residents discover the help and services they may need.

⭐This year’s event takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August 2026, from 10am to 5pm at Calow Recreation Ground, off Oaks Farm Lane, Calow, Chesterfield, S44 5TA.

Attractions include dog shows, a static motorbike display, inflatables, small funfair rides, birds of prey, tug of war, stalls, a live music stage, bar, food vendors, raffle and more. They’re also thrilled to confirm that their application for a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) flyover has been approved, adding a spectacular moment to this year’s celebrations.

Best of all, entry is completely free, making it an accessible, affordable and welcoming day out for everyone.
