Create small wire animal sculptures with Liz Wellby

Event details

Create small wire animal sculptures

Join me at The Slipper Studio on the edge of the Peak District for a relaxing and creative day, creating beautiful birds, dogs and sheep.

Your initial ideas will be sketched, before you explore fine and flexible heat treated wire. It’s an expressive material and surprisingly easy to handle, cut and manipulate with basic hand tools; it’s like drawing in the air.

You will create several wire sculptures both on bases and free standing, with a particular focus on birds, dogs and sheep with strong, angular profiles – breeds with more rounded features can be problematic. Your skills will develop throughout the day, enabling you to create more challenging pieces as the day progresses. You might like to print off several A6 images, of birds, dogs and sheep in profile, but you will be provided with several suitable images to work from.

This workshop will suit folks with experience of different creative processes and techniques.

Friday 18th September, 10 – 4pm, with just 5 places, including: tuition, materials and use of equipment; just bring your lunch.
