Who Needs Men When You’ve Got a Mic? Barbara Fernandez’s Cabaret Is a Love Letter to Self

11^th and 12^th July 2026 – Barbara Fernandez isn’t just raising her voice about mental health – she’s belting it out unapologetically, in sparkly dresses, stilettos – and with a wicked grin.

After being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (ADHD, PTSD, bipolar and psychosis) in middle age, this French-American singer-turned-musical-comedian decided to turn her chaos into cabaret. This year, she storms into Buxton Fringe with Singing, Sagging and Shagging – a one-woman riot of pop parody, powerhouse vocals, and unfiltered tales of cult-loving husbands, jailbird exes, shaggable therapists, and neurodiverse misadventures.

Fernandez’s hour-long show takes snippets of chart-topping bangers and recrafts them to find the hilarity in true stories of heartbreak, her rocky road to self-discovery.

“The beginning of my healing journey felt like climbing out of hell on a ladder, if that ladder was on fire,” said Fernandez. “One in 10 people suffering from borderline personality disorder doesn’t make it out. I hope my show makes it easier to have those difficult conversations about mental health so that anyone in the audience who’s struggling feels less alone.”
