Updates on Buxton Festival Fringe

With spring in the air, Buxton Fringe seems to be having a growth spurt with over 100 entries already and many more expected by the printed programme deadline of April 19th. See Take Part to get involved. Entries received by the end of March pay a reduced entry fee of £77!

Underground

Popular managed venue Underground will be occupying the same spots as last year – The Space in Spring Gardens and Buxton Working Men’s Club on Lightwood Road. Entrants should apply by March 22 via https://underthefringe.com/artists/ rather than registering with the Fringe.

Laughs a plenty!

Even before Underground announces its line up, we have noticed a surge in comedy largely thanks to Den of Laughs which is hosting a strong line up of comedians having booked two rooms at the Lee Wood Hotel.

Ringing the changes

You will notice a few changes to events in the Fringe category this year – Fringe Sunday has become Fringe Saturday and the Fringe Awards has a new location at the splendid Palace Hotel. Following suggestions from entrants last year, we are also planning to bring Sunday Socials to the Pump Room in July; these will offer a fun, informal opportunity for performers to meet members of the public and Fringe organisers.

Fringe Springboard

Springboard at the Pump Room, opposite the Crescent, Buxton SK17 6BH on Saturday April 11th offers a chance to see Fringe performers The Clarkes & Co with lively music and poetry, Fringe regulars Darren Poyzer and Trish, G&S songsters Utopia Unlimited and comedic lecturer and soon to be Radio 4 star, Andy Mycock.

Everyone is welcome to this fun event from 7-9pm. Bring cash if you would like to purchase our Fringe merchandise including some exciting new, limited edition headgear! There will be drinks available to buy at the Pump Room Bar for which you can use a card. The Pump Room will be decorated with orange flowers in honour of the changing season and free seed packets will be on offer to those who would like to get involved in the Fringe’s popular floral Hot Spot scheme.

Entrants – Please contact events@buxtonfringe.org.uk if you are interested in performing at our Programme Party at the Pump Room on June 6th at Buxton Working Men’s Club or Fringe Saturday (replacing Fringe Sunday this year) on July 18th.
