Shipley Eco Action Group (SEAG) Announces 5th Greenfolk Festival

Shipley Eco Action Group is delighted to announce its 5th Greenfolk Festival – a free community celebration dedicated to land-based creativity, food-growing inspiration and wellbeing for people and planet. This will all take place at our beautiful wildlife-friendly community garden. Inspired by our theme “Land and Food Based Craft”, Greenfolk 2026 invites visitors of all ages to welcome the new season with hands-on workshops, creative craft sessions and opportunities to explore sustainable nature-connected living.

We are especially pleased that this year’s festival will be held in connection with our friends and supporters MAKE/SHIFT whose festival as part of Derbyshire Makes will also take place on 2 May, just a short distance away in Heanor from 11 am – 4pm.

What to Expect

The festival will offer a wide range of free activities, including:

  •  Land-based and food-based craft workshops
  •  Gardening and food-growing inspiration
  • Educational talks
  • Bushcraft demonstrations
  • Cyanotype photography workshop with Dean Leivers
  • ‘Distilling Rainbows’ Botanical Ink making explorations with Clare Taylor
  •  Fermentation sessions
  •  Seed swapping to encourage local biodiversity
  •  Live musical entertainment throughout the day
  • Refreshments provided onsite
  •  A warm welcome from our dedicated volunteers

Visitors can explore the thriving community garden, discover new skills, and connect with local eco-makers, growers, and educators.

The Greenfolk Festival continues to grow each year, offering a relaxed, family-friendly space for creativity, community connection, and environmental action. Whether you’re curious about crafting from natural materials, passionate about sustainable food, or simply looking for a joyful way to spend a spring morning, Greenfolk offers something for everyone.
