Words Unwound: Radical Rest with Kate Oliver

Event details

I feel I am always on a treadmill, keeping things going…” It’s not just you: people in the creative sector are feeling exhausted and overstretched, on a constant cycle of projects, funding bids and expectations. Kate Oliver and the Radical Rest Network have been researching the need for rest, the barriers that prevent us, and what radical change could look like.

In this workshop enjoy a reflective space to consider your own relationship to rest, hear what’s worked for others, and identify practical actions – big and small – to make change. Bring a blanket and get comfy!

Monday 23rd March, 6 – 7  pm

Kate Oliver (she/her) is an educator with over 20 years’ experience in the cultural and environmental sectors, including leading Learning teams at the Horniman Museum and Gardens, Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, and London Zoo. She now delivers learning and evaluation projects as a freelance consultant, is a trainee psychotherapist, and runs the Radical Rest Network for over 500 exhausted sector workers. Rest for Kate is walking among trees, and a morning coffee with Schnitzel the cat.

‘Words Unwound’ is Beyond the Spectrum’s 2026 online festival, a week-long series of workshops and talks for writers who want to slow down, reflect, and create in their authentic voice.
