Writing East Midlands Youth Advisory Board Applications Now Open

Event details

Are you aged 18-25, based in the East Midlands and passionate about writing? Do you want to make a genuine difference to the creative writing events and opportunities available to young people in your area?
Apply now to join the Writing East Midlands Youth Advisory Board 2025/26!
Writing East Midlands is now accepting applications for the 2025/26 Youth Advisory Board. The Youth Advisory Board is made up of enthusiastic writers aged 18 to 25 who are passionate about making a difference to our CYP programme. They add a younger perspective on how to address challenges and opportunities, bring new ideas and energy to our organisation, increase awareness of Writing East Midlands, and offer a voice on issues that affect them and their peers.
Their decisions offer invaluable insight and directly influence our decision-making process. Throughout the duration of their roles, they will have the opportunity to develop into future organisational leaders, develop problem-solving and arts leadership skills, and engage in meaningful leadership activity.
Youth Advisory Board members will be appointed for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three. They will meet six times a year at Writing East Midlands’ Head Office in Nottingham with the opportunity for the Board and Chair to consider a blended mixture of physical and virtual meetings in the future.
Activities and responsibilities may include:
  • Attending workshops and events to familiarise themselves with the current CYP programme
  • Help with drafting and editing policies
  • Planning special projects (e.g. National Writing Day)
  • Securing donations and/or fundraising (e.g. joining fundraising meetings, writing grant applications)
  • Project marketing (e.g. designing brochures, writing blogs)
  • Presenting to the Main Governance Board on the CYP programme
