Eight emerging artists will create 11 giant innovative lantern sculptures inspired by the theme of climate change – world of flowers. Using eco-friendly or recycled materials artists will create LED-lit sculptures that will be installed at 11 different locations around Derby. Come & find them!
Commissioned by Surtal Arts, eight emerging artists from Derby & Derbyshire will create 11 stunning giant lantern sculpture in a trail through the city. Inspired by the theme of climate action, the “World of Flowers” trail will see 1-3metre high LED-lit lanterns, made of eco-friendly or recycled materials, appear in twelve different locations around Derby city and Normanton – connecting Derby’s diverse communities and places. Families can go hunting for these special sculptures while discovering new places, people and stories and take pride in the city we call ‘home’.
