Artist profile
Peter Knight is an artist living and working in Derbyshire; “Although not solely regional, my work explores aspects of the history, geography and memory of landscape through drawing, mainly of my travels and locality in Derbyshire. These ideas and creative gambits are developed into print in my press, The Common Press CRICH on the Common, Crich and through drawing and painting in my studio at Haarlem Artspace at Haarlem Mill, Wirksworth. I mainly use traditional intaglio processes, etching, engraving drypoint and mezzotint. I often use relief processes like linoprint for my bookarts and I have a letterpress setup which I can use for my bookarts and posters. Whilst being trained as a fine printer, I am a self-taught letterpress printer. I rely on drawing and mark making in my work as a hand produced basis for experimentation and an open-ended creative gambit.”
