FOUR SEASONS
John Connolly is a prolific and popular Peak District artist renowned for his exquisite landscapes and seascapes.
The theme of the seasons represents visiting some of his favourite places throughout the year. As a landscape artist he is particularly interested in how places change throughout the day and also how the seasons exhibit such a variety of colours from the fresh greens of spring through to the warm oranges and golds shown in the autumn.
He is particularly interested in trees and ancient woodland and try to capture the colour of light and textures, trying to draw the viewer into a painting to give a real feeling of a sense of place. He also experimented with painting in moonlight and have included some of his nocturnal paintings in this exhibition of about 30 paintings.
Opening: Meet the artist on the Saturday 7th October between 11am – 3pm.
The exhibition will be on from 7 – 28 October at the Courtney Gallery in Ashbourne: 50 St John Street, DE6 1GH.
