Derby Poetry Festival present the opening of the Derby Poetry Festival and Aurora Prize Ceremony.
Join us for the opening ceremony of the Derby Poetry Festival on National Poetry Day. There will be performances from past slam winners and open mic opportunities, and we’ll get to hear brand-new commissioned pieces from the festival’s Associate Poets.
We’ll also be hosting the 2023 Aurora Prize Ceremony, which will include special performances from judges Casey Bailey and Joanna Cannon.
If you’re super keen, we’ll be hosting a drop-in workshop, during the day, for those who want to be involved in creating a group poem for the festival.

About Derby Poetry Festival

Often referred to as DPF, Derby Poetry Festival is a four-day poetry and literature festival held in the centre of Derby. We are dedicated to developing new writing talent in Derby and bringing excellent work to the city. DPF has just entered its fifth year, and 2023 is set to be bigger and better than ever.

We work with local, national and international talent to build a community of like-minded individuals to create a wonderful literary festival.

Derby Poetry Festival is supported by Arts Council England, Derby City Council and presented in partnership with Cathedral Quarter Derby.
