Artist profile
When I launched Tissington Craft Fairs in 2022, I wanted to create a unique makers market that would be in keeping with the traditional nature of Tissington village whilst also providing an opportunity for visitors to discover unique products made by contemporary artisan makers.
I personally curate each market using our comprehensive application form to learn more about each maker’s products and inspiration and also take time to consider how each stall will complement the others on the day.
I am happy to consider applications from artists and makers who are new to selling their work as well as those with more established small businesses. However, I always take into account the quality of workmanship and originality of each design knowing that our customers love to discover handmade gifts that they couldn’t easily replicate themselves and to learn the stories behind them.
Each market takes place in Tissington Village Hall, which is located opposite the village pond and provides an intimate and cosy setting for visitors to browse the stalls and take time to chat with each maker without feeling rushed.
Tissington village is located on the A515 between Buxton and Ashbourne and is also home to a number of small family owned businesses including a traditional tearoom, a plant nursery specialising in Peat Free Perennials and a handmade candle workshop. The village is probably most well known for its annual Well Dressing and for the grand Tissington Hall, which was built in the 17th Century. All of these are within a few minutes walk from our artisan market venue.
