Introducing The Team Behind Arts Derbyshire – Christine Thomas

Christine Thomas

Arts Derbyshire is supported by a team whose sole aim is to enrich the community through art and creativity. Although you may already have heard about and partaken in Arts Derbyshire projects, we would like to introduce you to the arts team behind Arts Derbyshire and learn about their work in their own words.

In this article, we get to know more about Christine Thomas, who is our newsletter editor for Arts Derbyshire.

As well as Newsletter Editor and Admin support, Christine also has her own visual arts practice and works predominantly in textiles and mixed media installations. She is currently studying for a practice led research degree at the University of Derby exploring domesticity and rural liminal spaces.

She has worked as a freelance community artist and mentor working for organisations such as The Museum of Making on the Midland Maker Challenge, Ty Pawb in Wrexham as Lead Artist and as an Facilitating Artist exploring Civic Engagement for the Saturday Club hosted by the University of Derby. She is a member of the Spaces Places Research Group and the Neurodivergent Humanities Network.

She has recently set up the Neurodivergent Artists Network and is currently ND Artist in Residence at Backlit in Nottingham in partnership with Quad, Derby and is Engagement Manager for Animate Projects.

Stay tuned for the rest of our Introducing Our Team series to find out more about the team behind Arts Derbyshire and read about each individual’s relationship to the creative sector.
