The Crucible by Arthur Miller

Starts: 19:30 14 May 2008

Ends: 22:00 14 May 2008

Chatsworth House Theatre, Chatsworth, DE45 1PP

Written in 1953 as a criticism of the McCarthy anti-communist "witchhunts" in America, the play draws a parallel with the hysterical purge on alleged (but ultimately unfounded) witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692.

A unique collaboration between Derbyshire amateur dramatic societies, co-ordinated by Bakewell’s Peacock Players and Tideswell Community Players, it is directed by Sylvia Jackson, for many years a professional actor and director and now living in Bakewell.

Any net profits from this performance will be donated to charity.
