At the Networking day, delegates took part in a wide range of activities, including:

•Pamela Butler took us through the benefits we saw for the older people and care homes who took part in Arts Derbyshire project, arts:impact. This is the project which also made Caring Creatively possible.

•We looked at how arts and creativity, even or especially in later stages of dementia, can continue to have great impact on brain activity and development (‘aging and the creative brain’, with Jo Stockdale).

•Priscilla Baily revealed the many benefits of reading for wellbeing as well as providing useful contacts and activity ideas.

•Practical workshops on offer included circle dance, craft and textiles, singing, storytelling, and fundraising.

•You gave us your activity ideas on the ‘Testimonials Tree’ – see the My Story page.

•You told us in your feedback that you’d learned practical skills to take back into your care setting, as well as gaining more knowledge on why the arts are good for all.

CCNetworkDay 2013 CraftHere are some examples of what you said about the day:

‘Thoroughly enjoyable and informative. Kind, approachable stall holders. Today’s activities and talks have really opened my mind to the breadth of information, assistance and activities available for us to deliver to our service users. It is vital that every single elderly person receives the absolute best care and it is fantastic to find an organisation dedicated to this aspect of their lives. Thank you.’

‘Thank you for affirming how important creative activity is in terms of well-being and social interaction and its huge benefits on the brain.’ ‘Very good day excellent organisation been really inspirational and going back to work very positive and full off new ideas, thankyou’

‘The day made me think… about the importance of creativity and stimulating the mind’

‘The day made me think…more about how you can do more with dementia patients’
