  • The first Buxton Comedy Festival is on its way to the town this summer
    The first Buxton Comedy Festival is on its way to the town this summer, as part of a 4-day event (31 Aug to 3 Sep), sponsored by Thornbridge Brewery. The barrels of beer and laughter ‘combo’ is the brainchild of Buxton Opera House, where many of the events will take place – alongside its sister venue, the Pavilion Arts Centre.

  • The Buxton Festival Fringe 2017 will see the launch of the The Rotunda Theatre.  This brand new 120 seat studio theatre, housed in an eye catching blue geodesic dome, will pitch up at the Pavilion Gardens for the whole of the festival.  It will boast an exciting and diverse program that will include everything from a South African musical to some of the best solo theatre and a rare chance to see a film about working with the playwright Harold Pinter.

  • Derbyshire-based digital marketing agency, Gravity Digital, is celebrating again after being named the Federation of Small Businesses & Worldpay UK Microbusiness of the Year for the East Midlands. The five person strong firm will now wait to hear if they will scoop the National Award, when all the regional winners in the UK compete for the prestigious title, at a ceremony on May 10th 2017.

  • The Higher Level Stewardship (Natural England) project for Sinfin Moor Park has been completed, supported by Friends of Sinfin Moor Park LNR and Derby Parks Volunteers. The project is part of the restoration of the native wildflower meadows within the balancing pond and pylon fields. Part of this includes grazing fields with a low number of cattle in late summer and early autumn.
