Contemporary Art responses to historic South Asian collections - A Meadow Arts Project

An award-winning artist from Derbyshire has been commissioned by Lancashire County Cricket Club as their official artist capturing this year’s Investec Ashes Series.

 

Buxton Festival has established a Young Artists Programme involving eight talented young singers, who, having completed their musical training are taking their first steps in the world of professional opera.

The eight young artists will act as understudies for roles in the Festival operas and, in addition, will take part in a number of performances during the Festival’s run, from 5 to 21 July.

Lovers of reading and writing will be spoilt for choice when Derbyshire's libraries push the boat out for an annual celebration of the written word.

We have lined up a string of events for the week before National Reading Group Day on Saturday 29 June.

With a nod to the way we carve up our personal space in homes, allotments, office desks, ‘Allotted’ presents individual spaces in the gallery of artist’s worked from a broad range of media.

Design Factory and The National Centre for Craft & Design are delighted to present a comprehensive and ongoing programme of training and development opportunities for both Design Factory members and the wider creative community.

An exhibition of artwork inspired by the National Forest is being staged at Sharpe's pottery museum in Swadlincote from June 1st.

Helen Love The Wave Pictures and The Lovely Eggs are among 26 bands have been added to the line-up for Indietracks 2013.

The programme for this year’s Buxton Festival has been announced, with a great line-up of opera, music, literature, family and free events as well as some unexpected surprises.

The 17 day Festival takes place from the 5th to the 21st July.

The Government has announced the launch of its new Creative Employment Programme.

Taking place throughout 2013 Taking the Lead supports young people’s development through leadership opportunities in and around music making.  The project sees young people developing their leadership skills through musical activity within youth and school settings before taking music-making into care homes within their own locality. As part of this programme, we are offering FREE CPD for current and aspiring music leaders on Friday 10th May 2013 or Thursday 18th July 2013 delivered by Nick Cutts of OPUS Music CIC.

Ilkeston based sculptor Rachel Carter, who is a regular fixture at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show has unveiled a sculpture for a brand new residential area on the outskirts of Derby.

The Gallery launched in December last year and is already proving an energetic player in the cultural life of Buxton and High Peak.
