  • Regional artist, Jane Bevan has used foraged, natural materials to create a striking line of vessels in response to the decorative objects in the Derby Museum 'Inspired by Nature' gallery. The installation, titled ‘All the Trees That Ever Were’ was informed by a public workshop that explored different ways of creating art from foraged materials.

  • In the last six weeks the Rockabillies Choir have done Flash Mobs on the Tram to Nottingham, at The Last Post in Beeston and in Asda in Long Eaton.  They have sung for the homeless at their Christmas lunch at the Canaan Trust, at Christchurch pre-school and at Hilltops home for people with Dementia in Ilkeston.

  • Local band The Saxophonix got together with the music director of French circus company Circa Tsuica in November to begin rehearsals for new show Opus 7 which comes to Deda Derby in March.

  • Bolsover District Council commissioned one of the world leading brass band composers to write a piece of music to commemorate the centenary of World  War 1 which was written for brass band and narrator and is based on the Laurence Binyon poem "For The Fallen".

    But you don’t need a flying DeLorean or Dr Who’s police box. Just download the new ‘Discover Derbyshire & Peak District’ Android app that features self-guided walking trails with historical photos from private collections and the public domain.
    Discovering which suburb was built by a Russian wrestler, how a duck made a lasting impression in a tree and why a social outcast had a hamlet named after him, are just some of the stories contained in the location-aware ‘virtual museum’ app.
