Gareth Buxton

Moorlight #3

Working as a professional artist based in Derbyshire, my paintings are inspired by memories, emotions evoked and the local landscape. My view of the local Derbyshire landscape is often stormy, rainy and indistinct; people, buildings and other details rarely feature in my work, as I prefer to allow the voices of hills, sea, rain and light to speak for themselves. You will not find me trekking across the wilderness with a rucksack full of paints ! Instead I visit locations, wait, absorb the atmosphere and the rest comes later, from inside at the studio.

I started painting with watercolours but quickly moved to Acrylic as this medium suits my unplanned and spontaneous painting style . A near fatal road accident late in 2004 was the catalyst for me to become a complete artist. An artist in the broadest sense of the word and I actively experiment with non- landscape painting.

Additionally I produced a range of sculptures which combine pseudo biological items with electronic and electrical 'found objects' embedded into the canvas and boxes.

I actively exhibit at galleries and other venues throughout the uk
