Have you always wanted to have a go at acting? Wondered how to write a script? This two hour workshop gives a basic insight into stagecraft, developing a character and how you can take a novel and adapt it for the stage.

Children’s author Andy Cope will be talking about his series of Spy Dog books. Spy Dog, published by Puffin, won the Redhouse Children’s Book of the Year as well as the Richard and Judy 7+ Award.

The event will appeal to adults and children, especially as Andy will be bringing his pet dog, Lara, the star of the book!

A workshop with Ann Cleeves. Ann is an award winning author, and has published over twenty novels, including Raven Black, the first in a quartet of novels set on the Shetland Isles and featuring detective Jimmy Perez.

During the workshop she will be looking at character development, plot in the crime novel, using the crime scene as a jumping off point, the history of crime fiction and the range of opportunities for writers in the genre today.

This event is organised by Erewash Writers Group.

Join us for a walk around Beth’s Poetry Trail in Belper. A gentle stroll through the heart of this historic mill town, pausing at each installation for brief information and a reading of the poem.
Start/finish: Meet in Belper River Gardens, by the bandstand. Car parking, including disabled, available in the River Gardens. The walks are mainly along pavements, with a few steps; a suitable route for wheelchair users is possible.
