Derbyshire Literature Festival

Derbyshire Literature Festival Logo in turquoise

Featuring over 70 events including author talks, workshops, walks, trails and competitions the Festival celebrates everything to do with reading and writing, especially in this National Year of Reading.

We are delighted to welcome Kate Mosse, George Alagiah, Kate Adie, Anne Cassidy, Andy Cope, Gervase Phinn, Jasvinder Sanghera, Mary Stanley, Axel Scheffler, Nicola Monaghan and Rod Duncan.

The theme for many Festival events is exploration and many of the writers, mountaineers, explorers, and local historians appearing during the Festival will be sharing their interpretation of this theme.

Several community groups and organisations are promoting readings, walks, films and exhibitions during the Festival.

The Festival will also première More Glass than Wall, a major new oratorio written and devised by former Derbyshire Poet Laureate Cathy Grindrod and nationally acclaimed composer James Redwood, in conjunction with local school children and performed by sinfonia VIVA.
