Derbyshire Literature Festival

Derbyshire Literature Festival 2010

Many thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s Festival.  We hope you enjoyed the events and workshops.  The Festival wouldn’t be possible without the writers and artists who appear at events, and our partners who host and publicise events.  A huge thank you to all of you.

Mills and Chimneys concert at Sandiacre LibraryOne of the highlights of the Festival was Mills and Chimneys: songs of Derbyshire.   If you couldn’t get to the concerts during the Festival there’s a chance to see David Gibb and his fellow musicians again this autumn.  They will be appearing at Wirksworth Festival on Friday 10th September, 8.30pm at Red Lion, Wirksworth; and during the World Heritage Site Discovery Days Festival at Threading it all together! Performances, readings and workshops at Fleet Arts, Belper on Saturday 23rd October.

There are lots of events and activities taking place in Derbyshire Libraries this autumn, including a return visit to Derbyshire by the acclaimed poet Dorothea Smartt.  She’ll be appearing at Wirksworth Library on Tuesday 5th October, 7.30pm

‘I really enjoyed the atmosphere, Dorothea’s fantastic connection with the audience…the travelling to a different time and place through her poetry.’
(comment from a member of the audience at the reading Dorothea gave at Strutt’s Mill, Belper during the Festival)
