Arts in the Peak
What is Arts in the Peak?
Arts in The Peak is an artist led organisation which aims to sustain and develop the Peak District’s distinctive cultural identity through practical and strategic support of its artists. The unique nature of the Peak provides opportunities artists to work in rural regeneration, and with the tourist industry. A coordinator was appointed in February 2006 to develop this work.
What does Arts in the Peak do?
Arts in the Peak provides information, networking, training and advocacy for artists, including a monthly newsletter, advice and information by telephone and email, and opportunity to promote and sell work through the AiP website.
Arts in the Peak also acts as a catalyst, working with artists to develop their ideas and identify partners, resources and funding that will enable them to make them happen. It also develops partnerships with statutory agencies to ensure that the creative sector is placed centrally in strategies for the Peak District and the counties and districts within it. AiP develops initiatives like the Peak District Interpretation Project, Cultural Trails, public art commissioning and exhibiting and selling opportunities through cultural tourism, festivals and a Peak District Biennial.
